Welcome to the ‘abbey bank fraud’ website.
I created this website out of frustration with abbey business for taking too long in returning money that was fraudulently taken from my abbey business account.
On Friday December 9th 2008, I tried logging into my abbey business account. Unfortunately for me at this time, abbey had decided to start updating their login security system (more about this later). This was to take all weekend and the better part of the morning on Monday 8th December. So I resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn’t be able to login until the 8th.
The 8th arrived and having tried unsuccessfully to login in the morning, I was able to login with my new security details that the system had given me. I checked my account balance and to my horror I was missing about £13,000!
I immediately telephoned the abbey business help desk, but guess what…. I was put on hold for 4 hours, yup that’s right 4 hrs! I eventually gave up as being on a mobile phone (I was working away at the time) was going to cost me a fair bit. Later on I found out that because of the security changes to the abbey website, the whole of abbeys support team where overwhelmed with calls about problems logging in to the system.
So I resigned myself to waiting until the next day, the 9th, to report the fraud on my account.
I telephone abbey business banking first thing the next day, and surprisingly got through within 20 minutes. I reported the fraud and the nice persons on the phone said it would take between 7 and 10days to get the money back.
Well I waited the full 10 days and no money had been credited back into my account, so I phoned again. Spoke to a very rude bloke who said it could take 3 to 4 months to get my money back (peace of mind guarantee?), I said that’s not what I was told and he hung up on me. By now my blood was boiling, so I phoned again and the next person said 3 to 4 weeks!
I didn’t bother phoning again that day, I couldn’t handle being told 3 to 4 years!
Anyway to cut a long story short, I didn’t phone again until the New Year and I still haven’t had my money returned to me. In fact the fraud department sometimes knows about my case and sometimes it doesn’t.
